MSNBC has been producing fake DAPL news in yet another display of how fractivism is enabled and promoted by a sycophant political press. Journalism is dead.
No one is surprised at fake DAPL news at this point but the depths of the distortion and the degree of malfeasance are simply stunning. MSNBC just did a story so blatantly false as to be nearly criminal. What’s particularly disturbing is the proven knowledge they knew it was false and ran it anyway.

Dakota Access Pipeline or DAPL news hasn’t been known for objectivity but a story from Rob Port at the SayAnythingBlog shows MSNBC taking things to a new plane:
Last week I posted some video a #NoDAPL activist had taken of a MSNBC news team recording a segment from the Oceti Sakowin protest camp in south central North Dakota.
When I originally posted the video I couldn’t find where it had actually been broadcast. I thought that perhaps Perry, having been told that his report was inaccurate, decided not to use it. Turns out I was wrong. The utterly laughable segment really did air.
The video I originally posted showed reporter Cal Perry recording multiple takes of a broadcast in which he talked about a spring buffalo hunt which would have Native Americans floating the carcasses down the Missouri River.
“The tribes here go hunting for buffalo and they go hunting north of the river,” Perry said in one take. “Because the buffalo is so heavy, they kill it and flow it down here and that’s of course, what they feed their families with. What happens when we float that buffalo down the river and the river is full of oil?”

After Perry finished with the takes, the activist watching told him said his report was inaccurate.
The story is “not gonna be good for the locals but for the mainstream it’ll be alright,” he tells the film crew, adding that Perry’s notions about Indians hunting buffalo is “romanticized.” One member of Perry’s team, perhaps Perry himself, was surprised to learn from the activist that Native Americans don’t survive on buffalo hunts any more and go to grocery stores like regular Americans.
I confirmed this with North Dakota Indian Affairs Commissioner Scott Davis. “Our tribe highly regulates our buffalo herd and hunts,” ND Indian Affairs Davis, who is a member of the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe, told me. “As a tribal member you’d be lucky if you got a tag or opportunity to harvest a buffalo. They only time we harvest buffalo is during our pow wows or ceremonies. Special occasions only.”
I asked Davis about floating the buffalo down the river. “I’ve never heard of that,” he told me.
Anyway, you’d think after Perry was told that his report wasn’t based on fact that he would have fixed the error. But he didn’t. It was used on air on January 26 and was seen by some 1.2 million people according to this media clipping service.
I encourage NaturalGasNOW readers to go to Rob Port’s post and watch the original video from about 6:15 on after MSNBC reporter Cal Perry is directly informed the story he just told was wildly inaccurate; that the bison had been sold off and weren’t the factor his romanticized false story suggested. There’s no doubt it was him and yet he let the report go the air to tell the lie that it did. The discussion provides a wonderful window into the way fractivist news is manufactured by willingly gullible media representatives more interested in pushing propaganda than telling the facts.
Could this ‘report’ on Port’s report be false news by the oil corporations affected. . . Sounds like a ‘by-product’ of the reality of danger to the Missouri River and ground water on this reservation. Something to give the public to keep the public from the real story which is pollution of the water tables, which we know is a REAL threat, and not some silly non-story supposedly published by WHOM? ? ?
Perhaps the laughable ever comment on a post, “Zed.” You’re telling us you believe the Standing Rock Sioux survive by floating their bison the river? What a joke.
I saw the video of the Native American man talking to the reporter before it was taken down. In it he told the reporter that they don’t hunt buffalo anymore. The reporter was shocked to learn that they buy stuff at the grocery store. The NA told the reporter that they never floated the buffalo down the river and he never heard of it as he laughed at him. The buffalo wouldn’t float anyhow it would sink if you threw it in the river. And not only that they would use pick up trucks to transport it if they hunted them.

Today I was talking to the chiefs of the 5 tribes, the Dakota, the Sioux, the Navaho, the Fox and the DeCaprios. They came to the conclusion that the buffalo hunt is not as big a deal as the Ram 350 Diesal 4X4 and decided to abandon buffalo meat for a turbine engine that will get them to and from the local grocery store. However, two tribes held out; the Fox and DeCaprio tribes. They plan to stay the course for as long as MSNBC, et al keep delivering.

The very serious and long-standing problem with the way that journalists cover pipelines and fractivism is no laughing matter whatsoever. Sure the dakota pipeline coverage is scandalous and it has been for months now but the truth is the problem is deeply rooted. I cannot begin to explain how completely flabbergasted and appalled I am that reporters and editors have failed to respond appropriately and professionally to requests for corrections to factual errors and more. The way that pipelines are covered is a serious problem in the field of reporting and this is due if you asked me to reporters relying on the absolute worst sources for their information and refusing to admit that they have made mistakes because of this.

I am starting to think that there is a coordinated leftist movement pushing so much “fake” news and “fluff” as to further dumb-down and confuse the populace from being able to discern “real”, and “consequential” news.
I watched Good Morning America with Katie Couric degenerate into “fluff news” over about a decade, and I gave up on them. It sure doesn’t say much for their current audience, that they would accept that!
That “news” report made me literally laugh out loud! That’s some funny s#!t! MSNBC has soooo much credibility, they will literally report anything that they think sounds good. Check out the morning Joy or whatever with the one random rancher from Nebraska that doesn’t like KXL talking about DAPL where a producer starts to correct some facts over the IFB during the middle of the segment. It was blatently obvious that none of the people involved have the wildest clue about what they are talking about. They just know that this is the cause celeb that should get ratings
Where was that clown Cal Perry at when the mess the protesters left had to be cleaned up. The protestors where worried about the pipeline contaminating their water, what about all the human waste and oil and other crap that floated into the river when it started o melt. Cal Perry you forgot to mention the millions of taxpayers dollars that were spent to clean the mess up. MSNBC is fake news at its best.
