Is Tom Wolf really this calloused, this hypocritical, this obtuse? It appears he is. No one brags about shale gas and then denies it to one set of citizens.
Yesterday, March 21, 2018, may mark the low point of the Tom Wolf administration in Pennsylvania for residents of Wayne County. Our pampered, two-faced, trust-funder governor took to bragging about Pennsylvania’s shale gas resources. He did so oblivious to the reality of simultaneously denying them to those of us living in the Delaware River Basin portion of the Commonwealth. That’s the best interpretation; more likely he did it knowing he was sticking it to Wayne County for the sake of his elitist friends in Philadelphia and New York and simply not giving a damn.
“Who? Me? No, I love shale gas; as long as you’re not from Wayne County, that is.”
Tom Wolf was extolling the benefits of shale gas yesterday when he announced renewal of “a three-state agreement with Governor Jim Justice of West Virginia and Governor John Kasich of Ohio to collaborate on efforts to maximize the use of the shared natural gas resources in the Appalachian Basin.” Here’s what Tom Wolf told fellow Pennsylvanians, in fact (emphasis added):
“The shale gas resources in the Appalachian Basin represent enormous economic opportunity not just for Pennsylvania, but for the region as a whole,” Governor Wolf said. “We have a unique proposition: abundant and low-cost feedstock for petrochemical and plastics manufacturing, all within the same geographic footprint. I’m proud to continue our successful collaboration with Ohio and West Virginia to ensure that we are doing everything we can to support additional development – and the jobs and economic growth that go with it – in a region with an unprecedented natural resource.”
Really, Tom Wolf? That isn’t what you’re telling residents of my home county and our neighbors in the Delaware River Basin. You’ve been selling us out and telling us our economic opportunity must be surrendered for the sake of New York, New Jersey and Delaware residents and the special interest agendas of the Haas and Rockefeller families and their shills at the Delaware and Catskill Povertykeeper offices. You’ve, in fact, led the effort to unjustly abrogate our economic futures, using a laundry list of fractivist talking points, combined with a power grab that would give the DRBC authority to count the hairs on our heads and tell us when we need haircuts.
You are a complete phony, Tom Wolf.
There is no help for Governor Wolf, he just spouts the democrat line in everything he says. Of course he would be 100% for drilling in Wayne County if our Senator and Representatives would be co-sponsors of a bill on placing an extraction tax on gas. Why does he primarily want this second tax on gas? So Philadelphia and Pittsburg can reap the money for their cities and primarily for all their reelections.
Or perhaps Wolf realizes that there is no severance or income tax revenue if no gas is moving. If the backwards attitude of the DRBC will take too long to undo or it is politically expedient to write off Wayne County, then concentrating on development of the western part of the state is a good move.
The best we can hope for in the near future is that natural gas is seen as the engine of domestic economic growth over and above royalties and exports. The better western PA and eastern OH and WV do, the worse Cuomo and the DRBC will look.

Remember Pres Obama said the same thing. He also said WE NEED IT ALL, ALL FORMS OF ENERGY. He also said NG has helped the economy, but not once can I recall him using the words HYDRAULIC FRACTURING.
natural gas plant in Wayne county is what is desperately needed to boost the economy of many. I can only hope that the Governor could see this. I may not vote in the future if this hypocrisy continues.
