A tweet by Mark Ruffalo and cable appearance by Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez reveal the fractivist playbook in its entirety; feelings have no room for facts.

A faithful reader sent me a tweet from Mark Ruffalo yesterday about his visit to Washington to hob-nob with newly installed Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez or “AOC” as she has signaled she wants to be called now. It might as well stand for “Another Obtuse Collectivist” as far as I’m concerned. Nonetheless, she of sudden “Green New Deal” fame has done something suddenly wonderful as well. She has perfectly illustrates the fractivist playbook, as does the Green Hulk’s tweet.

Here’s the Ruffalo tweet:

fractivist playbook

Here’s a fellow with an expensive Manhattan apartment and a second home in the country where he used a small fortune in taxpayer money to install a virtue signaling solar system. Meanwhile, he flies all over the country and serves as the celebrity poster boy in acting out the Rockefeller family fractivist playbook. And, to prove his own obtuseness quotient, he lectures the rest of us on the need for a “better, more equal government.”

Ruffalo could start down that road himself by returning the tens of thousands of dollars he took in unnecessary solar subsidies. After that, he could sell his place in Sullivan County and donate the proceeds to helping others go green, if he is really serious with that daft remark. He won’t, of course, because he’s only serious to the extent he’s following the fractivist playbook that gives him nice warm feelings about his own humanity and superior morality

The picture of Ruffalo with AOC, which, no doubt the lady supposes puts her on the level with other bright bulbs such as Cher, reinforces this. She has taken it a step further, though, appearing with Anderson Cooper to offer this:

COOPER: One of the criticisms of you is that– that your math is fuzzy. The Washington Post recently awarded you four Pinocchios —

OCASIO-CORTEZ: Oh my goodness —

COOPER: — for misstating some statistics about Pentagon spending?

OCASIO-CORTEZ: If people want to really blow up one figure here or one word there, I would argue that they’re missing the forest for the trees. I think that there’s a lot of people more concerned about being precisely, factually, and semantically correct than about being morally right.

COOPER: But being factually correct is important–

OCASIO-CORTEZ: It’s absolutely important. And whenever I make a mistake. I say, “Okay, this was clumsy,” and then I restate what my point was.

As Ben Shapiro explains so well, AOC is saying “my feelings don’t care about your facts.” That’s the fractivist playbook in seven words so easy to grasp even this Millennial muttonhead should be able to get it. It’s the same story Ruffalo is singing and it’s all about promoting ridiculous ideas such as her “Green New Deal,” for which there isn’t enough money in the world and which would still require about the same natural gas electricity generation capacity as now for backup if nothing else. It is the recipe for massive land disturbances and open space consumption topped off with completely unaffordable energy.

But, the facts don’t matter in the fractivist playbook. If you feel it’s the right thing to do and you’re confident your morality is superior to your neighbors, you are entitled to not only ignore the facts but also make them up. And. lying to advance the secular faith isn’t just permitted; it’s required.

  1. well, Tom, you must feel morally correct and superior….
    with your insistent stance.

Gas Development is a major recipe for land disturbance.

Like in my county there are over 500 gas sites/pads .
…. over 500 gas sites in my county of upwards of 20 acres or more in a single site and
we have 53 sites for compressor stations up to 160 acres used in a single site
besides all the pipelines to connect these …and the sites for water and waste impoundments and power plants and treatment plants and CNG plants and storage sites and the list goes on…

Besides all the disturbance on our roads of the intense gas industry truck traffic which travel noisily and with much dust through our County seat and other towns…
    This Industry is intensely invasive.

Thanks to Mark Ruffalo and Ocasio-Cortez for thinking outside the Gas Box and looking for better solutions to help our people and environment.

Mark is not making money off of gas but you are and all those who have invested in it….and you and others who promote gas, make money off of it..
Your stance is tainted by your money needs, money focus and money connections..

    • If you think gas is causing land disturbance just imagine how much there would be if you tried to produce the same amount with solar and then you’d still need the gas! You perfectly illustrate what I wrote about Vera. You haven’t made the slightest attempt to think this through.

    • Vera, please set up a debate between Tom and his compadres vs. AOC, Ruffalo and even you too can be part of the peanut gallery. I will gladly bring the popcorn.

    • Vera states: “Gas Development is a major recipe for land disturbance.” Vera apparently has never seen the Broome County Solar “farm” that was installed only after Broome County butchered over 25 acres of trees to do so. Here’s a link to one of Vic Furman’s great past articles which show the massive destruction –
Neither Vera, Craig Stevens, Ray Kemble, or Bill Huston were anywhere to be found to create a human shield to stop the loggers from doing Broome County’s dirty deed. Yet any time there was any kind of anti – gas meeting going on in NY, these PA invaders were there on queue just like a Pavlovian canine. Hypocrisy has no bounds.

    • AOC … “If money doesn’t grow on trees, then why do banks have branches?”

(Just kidding. This young lady is going to continue to provide humorous fodder for years. Sadly, it may be tough to identify where parody ends and her actual statements begin.)

  2. I too live in Pennsylvania 3 days a week… right in Susquehanna county,
I can tell you with complete accuracy that Vera is 99.999 percent fracking wrong in her statements. In Fact the only people who back her are litigants and paid protestors plus the hulkster. I drink the water from the ground and breath the air and it has only gotten cleaner thanks to natural gas

  3. In the world of “Operator Qualification” in the distribution industry “AOC” stands for abnormal operating condition, she nailed and doesn’t even know it.

  4. Ruffalo talks about a “better, more equal America”. This coming from someone who was instrumental in killing fracking in NY, thus denying farmers and landowners their mineral rights and bringing them massive financial hardship up to and including the loss of their land which in many cases has been in families for generations. Is this the equality the Hollywood multi – millionaire is alluding to?
