PennEast Pipeline Earns Workers’ Support

A PennEast Pipeline FERC hearing last night at Penn’s Peak in Jim Thorpe, Pennsylvania brought out lots of deserved support from workers.

The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) is holding four public hearings this week on the PennEast Pipeline. One took place at the well known Penn’s Peak venue perched overlooking the Lehigh River in Carbon County, Pennsylvania. It was reasonably well-attended. More importantly, there were numerous union representatives there to make the case for the project. There was also landowner support.

Naomi Klein: The Naive Nanny of Fractivism

fracking reality

Tom Shepstone
Natural Gas NOW

Fractivist Naomi Klein has achieved capitalist success by bashing the institution while cheerleading for those bringing Venezuelan people to their knees.

Naomi Klein is the perfect fractivist from an elitist perspective. Snobby and condescending, she’s bought fame by decrying capitalism and the oil and gas industry. The industry improves lives every day as she condemns it to improve her brand. She serves, meanwhile, as a “Fellow” at the Nation Institute in New York City, where the building is heated with natural gas. She also resides in Ontario, Canada where natural gas is the primary heating fuel for 70% of homes. She’s just a more attractive version of Michael Moore in that respect, but every bit as hypocritical. Naomi Klein, in fact, says “the fracking industry is vicious, brutal and will stop at nothing to get its way.”

She should know, given the sorts of people and government she’s supported in the past.

The Brazen Lies Being Peddled by the William Penn Foundation

fracking reality

Tom Shepstone
Natural Gas NOW

The William Penn Foundation, inextricably linked with the Rockefeller family, is telling some lies about water to further their special interests.

The upper region of the Delaware River basin is threatened. It’s not threatened by development but, rather, by very wealthy special interests peddling outright lies about water quality. These special interests, which include the Haas family (Philadelphia) and the Rockefellers, want to make a wilderness of this region. They’re spending hundreds of millions of dollars to scare people into giving it to them. They’re also targeting natural gas with their scare tactics; it being the one thing that could derail their scheme.

The Ugly Side of Pipeline Politics

fracking reality

Tom Shepstone
Natural Gas NOW

There’s an ugly side to pipeline politics. It’s less the predictable fractivist antics of ideologues than the anticompetitive moves of some power generators.

Pipeline politics have become increasingly dirty as fractivists committed to an ideological battle have attacked project after project. Elitist foundations fund them to advance their very special interests. Unfortunately, they’re not the only special interests to play dirty pipeline politics. Some electric power generators are doing the same thing.

Natural Gas NOW

The Atlantic Sunrise needs help. Let’s tell Pennsylvania DEP we want affordable, reliable energy and to issue the permit immediately.

We all care deeply about the economic and energy future of Pennsylvania, and the Nation.  Please help us tell the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) before August 1, 2016 that Atlantic Sunrise is a key piece of energy infrastructure. It will only take a few moments of your time to show your support.

Catskill Challenge or Cuomo’s Catskill Con?

shale gas outrages - Tom Shepstone ReportsTom Shepstone

Andrew Cuomo came to the Delaware River yesterday to launch the Catskill Challenge but it was more like a Catskill Con as the governor “won” a fake race.

Governor Andrew Cuomo visited Sullivan County, New York yesterday to do his “Catskill Challenge.” He said he was promoting tourism to the region, but it was more like a photo op for his next campaign. He visited the Woodstock site and the Delaware River. The excuse for the river visit was to give him the opportunity to “win” a rafting race, which, of course, was a complete joke. It was more of a Catskill con.

Bonnie Watson Coleman: Pipeline Hypocrite

shale gas outrages - Tom Shepstone ReportsTom Shepstone

Bonnie Watson Coleman says FERC is broken and New Jersey “faces an onslaught of proposed pipelines.” Natural gas use in her District shows she’s a hypocrite.

I’m sick to death of politicians pandering to NIMBYs who use natural gas and want no pipelines. Bonnie Watson Coleman is one of them. She is the first term representative for New Jersey’s 12th congressional district. It extends from Trenton to New Brunswick, New Jersey and includes Princeton. She just came out with a proposed bill to turn FERC inside out. It’s clearly a political move to please NIMBYs. It’s also hypocritical and goes directly against the interests of her district.

Thanks to Cabot & Williams the students in the welding program at Columbia-Montour AVTS now have the opportunity to practice on actual pipeline material.

On Wednesday afternoon a large truck rolled up to Columbia-Montour Area Vocational-Technical School carrying $30,000 in materials for students of the school’s welding program.

WNEP was on hand to capture the delivery:

SOUTH CENTRE TOWNSHIP — Students in a vocational welding program have something to look forward to when they go back to school this fall. Two natural gas companies gave the school in Columbia County a big donation which directly helps the welding program.

Support the Atlantic Sunrise

Mike Atchie, manager of public outreach for Williams, explains the importance of the Atlantic Sunrise, a vital pipeline for America’s energy needs.

Every day, Americans take warm showers, charge their electronics and do a number of things that require reliable energy. But how often do we take a moment to consider where our energy comes from?

One source of abundant, American energy is natural gas. It’s used to generate power, fuel our transportation needs, and serve as a critical component in American manufacturing. Through each of these uses, natural gas is reducing emissions, lowering energy costs and creating good-paying jobs.
