The Ugly Truth Behind Truthout, the CELDF and Grant Township

delaware riverkeeper - Jim Willis reports

…

The truth behind the Grant Township injection well controversy is ugly. The parties taking advantage of the Township are totalitarian wannabes out for power.

We previously reported on the story of two Pennsylvania townships that were either hoodwinked, or perhaps willing led astray, by the radical Community Environmental Legal Defense Fund (CELDF) into passing (now overturned) bans on fracking and injection wells in their towns; Highland Township (Elk County) and Grant Township (Indiana County). The CELDF continues to agitate against the Indiana Township injection well hoping to producer anarchy.

The Pompous Patrician Faces of Fractivism Who Make It Happen

It’s amazing how few few people are behind fractivism, funding it and pulling the strings. They’re trust-funders and patricians of the aristocratic class.

There are no special interests like those of patricians — the gentry ruling class. They fund virtually all of fractivism, not to mention other radical chic causes. They’re sort of people who mingle only among themselves, have little or no knowledge of middle class habits or values and even less desire to know. They know next to nothing about how things are made or produced in the real world or what managing the cash flow of a business or household is all about. Their world is a thoroughly insular one, despite their supposed worldliness and jet-setting lifestyles. They imagine themselves as nobles obliged to manage the masses about whom they understand nothing and want nothing to do with other than to be separate and apart.

These are the pompous patrician faces of fractivism and there are surprisingly few of them, despite their out-sized influence.

The Virginia Organizing Hustle: Another Fractivist Tool at Work

Constitution Pipeline - Tom Shepstone ReportsTom Shepstone
Shepstone Management Company, Inc.

Virginia Organizing is another phony political outfit masquerading as a charity with no regard for the law while making itself a fractivist tool for others.

Kevin Mooney, over at The Daily Signal, has a new piece up about an outfit I’ve known about for a while called Virginia Organizing. It first came to my attention a few years ago when I was exploring who was donating money to the NRDC. Virginia Organizing came up repeatedly not as a donor, but as a recipient, of fractivist money from the same people funding NRDC. They included the Schmidt Family/Google Foundations, the Park Foundation, Tides Foundation, the William & Flora Hewlett Foundation, the Marsla Foundation and the Wallace Genetic Foundation, all of which have been previously exposed on these pages as major fractivist enablers.

Kevin, though, has uncovered an additional link of significance; the dark money Sea Change Foundation which appears to have funneled Russian money into fractivist coffers via the helpful hands of the solar invested Simons family. His article is well worth reading as it details the insights of a CIA veteran as to how Russian interests manipulate groups such as Virginia Organizing into doing their bidding through a merging of ideological and mercenary objectives on the giving and receiving ends. What’s also interesting to me, though, is how Virginia Organizing has done its dirty work and how it’s gotten away with ignoring the law.

Upstate New Yorkers Now Told to Beg From One Another

….
….

Vic Furman exposes the reality of life in Upstate New York after Governor Andrew Cuomo’s fracking decision condemning the region to perpetual decline.

The latest New York budget gimmick is a state initiated program encouraging towns and counties to come up with ideas for saving taxpayer money by sharing more services. Sounds good but is it? It’s nor readily apparent exactly how this fits into Andrew Cuomo’s plans to reduce taxes but, as I see it, these theoretical savings from sharing services are little more than groveling for scraps, the Governor having already sold us out at the behest of the Empire State’s aristocrats when he denied us the economic benefits of gas drilling. We’re left to being told to beg from each other.

Walter Hang Celebrates and Profits as Upstate Dies

….
….

Walter Hang appeared on the Bob Joseph Show this past Friday to celebrate Andrew Cuomo’s attempts to starve Upstate New York of both gas and gas drilling.

This past Friday, I had the distinct privilege of listening to Walter Hang on WNBF 1290. He was on the “Bob Joseph Show.” “Biased Bob,” who adopted this moniker after a caller referred to him as such, has proven over and over again his show is a megaphone for those opposed to natural gas drilling and anxious to lie about it. His interview with Ithaca’s Walter Hang, the fractivist shill the Rockefellers have now paid well over $2 million to do his schtick, was yet another example.

Park Foundation Funds Fascist “Beyond Extreme Energy”

delaware riverkeeper - Jim Willis reports

Jim Willis
Editor & Publisher, Marcellus Drilling News (MDN)

…

Beyond Extreme Energy is a fascist group intent on shutting down any speech with which it disagrees and the Park Foundation funds it through Earthworks.

Extremist environmental protesters who don’t want to hear any viewpoints other than their own (i.e., fascists who love to suppress free speech), got a bit violent and ugly on Tuesday and shut down a meeting at Duke University (headquarters for insane environmentalism) where the Acting Chairwoman of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, Cheryl LaFleur, was scheduled to speak. Beyond Extreme Energy was one of the groups behind the illegal action. They’re funded by the Park Foundation and Earthworks, among others.

Fake News – The Fractivist Version

….
….

Fake news had suddenly become a big concern in some quarters. It’s nothing new to fractivism, though, the foundation of which is entirely built on the stuff.

Fractivist news is fake news. It is the original fake news, in fact. We seem to be hearing a lot about fake news since the election, but it’s been at the heart if fractivism from the very beginning. Fractivists have been manufacturing protests, ginning up fake news stories and manipulating events to spin a narrative bearing no relationship to the truth. Need proof? Just check out their advertising for paid protestors.

Duke Goes on the Road for Park with a Hunker-Junker

peer reviewed health - Tom Shepstone ReportsTom Shepstone

….
….

Duke University’s Nicholas School for the Environment long sold its soul to the Park Foundation, but it’s latest deliverable is a real hunker-junker.

Energy In Depth has a great story today about yet another piece of junk science from the Duke University Nicholas School for the Environment. Duke is on the Park Foundation payroll of sorts, as is obvious from this 2014 grant made by Park:

Duke

This particular grant, although it relates to wastewater disposal and not to the subject of Duke’s latest piece of junk science, is one of three such grants given to the school to attack fracking. They have, in return, published several reports making Park very happy. The most recent is about roads and it’s a real hunker-junker.

How Duke University Plays Ball Outside the Park

delaware riverkeeper - Jim Willis reports

Jim Willis
Editor & Publisher, Marcellus Drilling News (MDN)

Duke University plays differently when the Park Foundation isn’t paying the bill. They sound almost pro-fracking when the facts are all that matters.

For years now, the radical Park Park Foundation has been buying its research from a few select professors at a few select universities. One of the scientists for sale is Avner Vengosh, professor of geochemistry and water quality at Duke University’s Nicholas School of the Environment (see Duke Hit Piece on Shale Water Usage from Same Park-Sponsored Prof and Latest Case of Duke U Bought & Paid “Research” by Park Foundation).

Bob Howarth Drops All Pretense; Goes Full Fractivist

350.org - Tom Shepstone ReportsTom Shepstone
Shepstone Management Company, Inc.

….
….

Like his buddy Tony Ingraffea, Bob Howarth has always been a fractivist on the Cornell University payroll but now he’s dropped every pretense of objectivity.

Bob Howarth is one-half of the Howarth Ingraffea partnership that produced perhaps the biggest lie of the fractivist movement. This Park Foundation financed duo tried and failed rather miserably to assert natural gas was dirtier than coal. It was a defensive move after natural gas replacement of coal in electricity generation started producing huge declines in CO2 and other emissions.

Fractivists needed to be able to deny the obvious; that natural gas production newly enabled by fracking was cleaning the air. Bob Howarth and Tony Ingraffea served up the needed junk science to assert gas produced more greenhouse gas than coal. It was a joke (more on that in a moment) but it got attention for a bit. The two Park shills, both of whom I’ve debated, got away with pretending it was their science and not their ideology that informed their positions. It’s now come to the point, though, that reality can no longer be denied. Howarth has dropped all pretense of objectivity and science, going full fractivist.
